What we did

London Ambulance Service wanted to talk about its life-saving work in a way that was more impactful than dry words and statistics.

They came to Lark with a new organisational strategy. The brief was to make it stand out from the crowd.

Lark designed a recent strategy report for London Ambulance Service, including a new illustration style. Several pages from the report are seen in the image, featuring different maps and infographics.

Working with their brand guidelines – and helping to extend them authentically and organically – we designed the full strategy report.

And within this, we created a totally new, hand-drawn illustration style for the organisation.

The image is split into two. On the left, is the front page of the London Ambulance Service Strategy Report, designed by Lark. On the right, is a London street scene, with Union Jacks hanging from the buildings and a yellow London ambulance vehicle.
Two illustrations from the London Ambulance Strategy Report. One shows a girl working at a computer with the London Eye behind her, designed to look like a stopwatch. The other shows two people shaking hands over London Bridge.

Our illustrations carry through important messaging for the ambulance service, highlighting the changing nature of both the fleet and the workforce.

Two London Ambulance responders in high-vis yellow vests are reading the new Strategy Report, designed by Lark.

The London Ambulance Service loved our illustrations so much that they subsequently asked us to design a series of posters to be pinned up in every ambulance station throughout London.

An illustrated map of London divided into five sectors: North West, North Central, North East, South West and South East. Each sector has icons indicating ambulance service locations, including group headquarters, stations, and call centres.
