Samaritans
Subscriber book club

Samaritans wanted an exciting new way to inspire their supporters, so we helped them develop a novel book club subscription.

A brown cardboard box with a colorful label that reads 'Welcome to the club!' in light blue text. The label features illustrations of two people watering plants and a large yellow book titled 'the FEEL GOOD book club.' On top of the box is a shipping label with tracking information and barcodes. In the background, there are patterned paper bags and a glass vase with a pink flower. The box is placed on a white surface.

Ongoing content creation

To help them connect with new and existing supporters, Samaritans approached Lark to develop a different type of communications. After just a few months, we had a powerful new subscription product: the Feel Good Book Club.

Creating connections is at the heart of Samaritans, so we decided to take this idea literally – and literarily – with their new book club. Every month, subscribers would receive an uplifting book they could discuss with an online community, plus a few feel-good treats, while knowing they were also making a difference to people in need.

“I love this book club. It’s like getting a birthday present every month. Thanks for setting it up.”

We worked closely with the core Samaritans team to help name and shape the Feel Good Book Club. Lark led on all verbal brand identity and product content creation, including messaging and tone of voice.

We also created the wellbeing tips and inspiring message cards included with every subscription box. Feedback from their customers has been phenomenal, and Samaritans are now hoping to expand the Feel Good brand into new areas.

Impact

The Feel Good Book Club has been a huge success for Samaritans, with a steady rise in membership – over 1,000 subscribers just 18 months after launch – and reaching brand new audiences for the charity.
